Chemical origins of life
As we learn more about the inner workings of the living cell and the evolution of life on earth, the transitions that occurred between geochemistry of Darwin's prebiotic soup, the RNA-only world and the last universal common ancestor remain mysterious. We're interested the design and study of dynamic, self-organized, multi-component chemical networks to gain an understanding of how the earliest functional life-like chemical systems could have emerged and exploit this technology for the design of intelligent nanomaterials.
